Scion Media

Hatch Films London is a media company specialising in film. As business grows and they move in new directions they felt 2015-2016 was time for a rebrand, changing from Hatch Films to Scion Media.

As I started to develop concepts for their branding, I was constantly reminded of Hatch's ability to capture perfect perspectives for their clients, through strong and effective cinematography.

The view from the camera, that first initial position is so important, decision making that is made by the camera-man that is an anchor to the final product. I began to think about how the creative eye can pick out a senario, scene or perspective to film/record based on taste. These decisions, are the starting point in Scion's process and I wanted to communicate that in the logo.

I developed Scion's branding using the rectangles found in a camera's viewfinder, this tied in with my concept of getting the viewer to think about the people behind the lens and also gave me a great diamond shape to work with. The rectangular diamond served perfectly to frame my type and draw your eyes to the centre of the logo, subtly referencing to Scion being the main point of focus.
